In the last part of our series on saddlery rivets you could learn the function of saddlery rivets and according to what we divide them. In today’s part we focus on the shapes of saddlery rivets, their finish and proper use in production.
Main saddlery rivets
The head of a saddlery rivet may have different shapes. The vast majority of rivets in our offer have a half-round shape of the head. Another group of rivets with mushroom heads. The last large group is rhinestone rivets, whose head consists of rhinestone (glass imitation jewelry). In this group of rivets you can choose from many shapes and colors.

Iron saddlery rivets
Produced by pressing from sheet iron with a subsequent surface treatment.
Nickel surface finish (NP)
The most widely used surface finish for rivets. The color and surface structure of NP rivets are suited to other product ranges with a nickel surface finish. Rivets with a nickel surface finish are not suitable for products considered to have long-term contact with water and chemicals. Fittings are not suitable to use for products where there is higher and more permanent friction of the head with another surface or mechanical damage. For leashes and harnesses with NP rivets it is necessary to let the collar dry properly after swimming or the higher physical exertion of a dog. When properly maintained a rivet is not damaged by corrosion.
Uses: collars, harnesses, handbags, purses, bags, key chains, belts, hand straps, purse straps and bags, …

Uses: the color of old brass rivets determines their use. Suitable wherever we do not want to have significant nickel fittings. Packaging, cases, backpacks, equipment for hunters, police, soldiers, fishermen. Collars, harnesses, handbags, wallets, bags, key chains, belts, hand straps, purse straps, purses and bags, …

Brass saddlery rivets
Produced by the pressing of a special non-magnetic brass sheet with subsequent surface finishing. Verification can be easily performed with a magnet.
Stainless steel surface finish
A new surface finish for rivets. Rivets with this finish have improved resistance to chemical and electrochemical corrosion. The rivets can be well combined with other stainless steel fittings. They are more expensive, but their properties give the product high added value. The rivet characteristics predetermine its use for very and extremely stressed products. They are suitable for any place where there is contact with fresh and sea water as well as sweat. Products can be repeatedly washed in a washing machine.
Uses: Harness and leashes for large dogs, ponies and mushing, …

NICKEL FREE surface finish
The latest surface finish for rivets in our offer. Suitable for products of the highest quality. The rivets can be combined with stainless steel and surgical stainless steel fittings.
Uses: The characteristics of the surface finish for the rivet (nickel-free) predispose the rivets to use in products for humans and animals allergic to nickel. This is very valuable in the production of belts, hand straps, handles, shoulder straps and other products where there is, or may be, rivet contact with skin surface. Rivets with NICKEL FREE surface finish allow expanding the range of products for a considerable group of customers allergic to nickel.
